Come and join us for a hands-on, heart-opening experience at our off-grid homestead near Cluj, Romania. This is more than just a building workshop – it’s a journey into sustainable living, community connection, and the joy of creating with your own hands.
🏡 What You’ll Learn
In this week-long workshop, we will explore several natural building techniques, focused on creating strong, healthy, and eco-friendly structures using materials that are local, recycled, and regenerative. Together, we will build:
✅ A foundation wall using recycled tires filled with drainage stones
✅ 3–4 layers of earthbags for solid thermal mass
✅ Cob walls (a mix of clay, sand, and straw) with glass bottles, jars, and windows
✅ Cobwood sections – mixing cob with logs for beauty and insulation
✅ Straw bale insulation for warmth and breathability
You’ll also learn the principles behind each technique – when to use them, why they work, and how they fit into a long-term vision for a sustainable home.
🌱 Beyond Building
This workshop is not just about walls. It’s about creating a lifestyle closer to the Earth. During the week, we’ll also cover:
✅ Healthy, simple living in connection with nature
✅ Designing your own off-grid homestead
✅ Food growing basics and companion planting
✅ Compost systems and water management
✅ Living with animals and respecting natural cycles
👣 You will learn by doing: stomping cob with your feet, stacking bags, shaping walls, embedding bottles, smoothing clay, and laughing with others.

Each day is structured to balance learning, working, and relaxing:
Morning – Theory session + guided construction
Midday – For-rest
Afternoon – Practical work + gardening or natural crafts
Evening – Circle time, campfire, storytelling, and reflection
